How to Appeal An Ebay Case

I just spent the last 3 weeks viciously fighting against an unfit eBay seller whom my husband and I bought a computer from. It was a huge mess, and took much longer then it should have. I appealed the case on both eBay, and pay pal. Only to have both rule in the favor of the seller. I wasn't ready to give in, we had put over $400 dollars into the computer, and I wasn't ready to see it slip away. So, I decided that I was ready to put up a fight. Which is why I wrote my previous article "Why I will Never Shop On EBay Again", I wanted my voice to be heard. Let me tell you, it was a long hard road. But in the end we ended up victorious!

1. First things first, file a case.

The most important thing to do is file a case. Don't even deal with the seller, as they will make your life hell in order to refund you. Bring it straight to the experts first, and then go from there. Wait for them to deal with the case before you do anything. Do not ship it back before they solve the case, this is where we went wrong.

2. Get Their final decision

If they side with the seller, don't worry. It can take between 24-72 hours for them to get back to you. Wait patiently. Ebay doesn't want to seem like the bad guys, so in most cases they will try to help you as much as possible. Give them the facts, and stand strong. Don't allow yourself to be cheated out of what you deserve.

3. Appeal If They side With the Seller

Appeal your case! If they take forever to get back to you, call them directly. We spent an hour on the phone pleading our case, but in the end it turned in our favor. You always get further if you talk directly to someone. Writing is one thing, but direct talk is superior. Speak to the representatives firmly, and ask them questions about the case. The best thing I heard my husband say was "So now I am out a computer, and a refund-- does that seem right to you?". Make sure you're quick to answer, and stand your ground.

4. If this fails, go to your bank.

I am thankful that we didn't have to do this, but I thought about it. Contact your banks customer service and explain the situation to them. File an appeal on your statement against the charge. In most cases the bank will work to make you happy. You've got to exhaust every single possible way to get your money back.

It was a long hard fight, we had this problem in November. The most important thing to do is fight. Don't take no for an answer, and when one person tells you no.. move on to the next! Fight, Fight, Fight, and it will be ruled in your favor. Another tactic I considered was annoying the heck out of ebay/paypal until they paid me just to shut me up. You can't get anything, without a good proper fight. Good luck, and get what you deserve!
